Delta Dental FAQ

As of August 1, 2023, Tyler and Yun dental is updating our office policy regarding Delta Dental patients. We will no longer be in contract with Delta Dental Premier plan.

Here are some common helpful FAQ’s as aresource for our patients.

Can I still be a patient at your office?

Absolutely! We would love to continue to take care of your dental needs. Whatever benefits you have from Delta Dental, you can use them in our practice.

Will you still take my insurance that I have with Delta Dental?

Yes. Their “out-of-network” fees will apply and the difference between their “out-of-network” fee and our procedure fee will be patient responsibility.

Why is there a change?

For the past several years (almost 10 years in some cases) they have failed to raise their contracted fee rates with us.  In January of 2023, Delta Dental actually reduced some of our contracted rates on some of the commonly performed procedures that we do. They are becoming increasingly difficult to work with as an insurance company.  This makes it impossible to provide the quality of care that you should expect and deserve from Drs. Tyler and Yun with inflation and increasing prices of dental supplies.

So, what changes will occur as a result of ending your contract with Delta Dental?

We will collect the fee of service provided up front (instead of you paying the copay) unless prior financial arrangements have been made.  We will send a claim to Delta as a courtesy, and they will send you a refund check directly for how much is covered. If you want to make sure Delta covers a procedure, we can send a “Pre-authorization” before starting treatment so you will know how much refund Delta will provide to you.

Will you still offer the benefit of billing Delta Dental on my behalf?

Yes.  We will continue to bill your insurance as a courtesy for you.

Is there anything I need to do as a patient?

No, as a courtesy, we will continue to submit the claim for you, xrays and documentation so that you can maximize your dental benefits.
